研究目标

      厌氧菌研究组研究厌氧菌资源、生物学和种间相互作用,目标是了解在重要厌氧降解生境中参与物质代谢的厌氧菌的生物学特征,为利用它们的代谢能力奠定基础。

 

研究内容

      复杂有机物厌氧降解产生甲烷的过程由3种代谢类型的厌氧微生物--发酵细菌、互营产乙酸细菌和甲烷古菌协同代谢完成。瘤胃中发生的纤维素秸秆降解转化为有机酸(动物营养物质)和甲烷是一个典型有机物厌氧降解过程,因为其中生活多种降解复杂纤维素和产甲烷的厌氧微生物。甲烷古菌是唯一以大量甲烷为代谢产物的生物,是全球甲烷排放的主要功能菌。研究这些厌氧微生物的资源、生物学特征和它们之间的种间相互作用机理,对认识有机物的生物转化过程的本质具有重要的理论意义。

      链球菌是兼性厌氧细菌。口腔中生活着各种链球菌,其中变型链球菌因产生大量乳酸,并能够粘附到牙齿表面而被认为是主要的致龋细菌;而一些口腔链球菌则能够产生某些抑菌物质而拮抗变型链球菌的生长。研究它们的种间作用有助于认识自然环境中微生物物种之间,以及微生物与环境相互作用的机制。

      本实验室致力于瘤胃纤维素厌氧细菌、甲烷古菌的资源和分子系统学,以及口腔链球菌种间相互作用的研究。目前的研究重点是:

(1)牦牛瘤胃纤维素降解细菌的生物学和纤维素降解的酶学,及其瘤胃元基因组学研究,重点是纤维素降解基因的筛选和表达;

(2)青藏高原湿地甲烷释放的途径和功能低温甲烷古菌的资源,及其冷适应的代谢研究;

(3)口腔链球菌抑制变型链球菌的分子机理,及其双组分系统调控的链球菌的生物膜形成。

          东秀珠,博士、研究员、博士生导师。

1994年毕业于荷兰Wageningen大学,获博士学位。
1995年至1996年在美国阿拉巴马州立大学作博士后。
2000年获得国家杰出青年基金。
2004年入选中国科学院“百人计划”,作为首席科学家主持国家科技部973项目。
现任中国科学院微生物研究所微生物资源研究中心副主任,微生物资源前期开发国家重点实验室主任,中国微生物学会常务理事,国际交流工作委员会主任,《微生物学报》副主编,《微生物学通报》和《生物多样性》编委。

目前主要研究厌氧细菌和古菌的资源、分子系统学和种间相互作用。
